HOW NOT TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA
How Not to Make it in America has returned from a successful season in Edinburgh.
In March, we presented How Not to Make it in America at Holden Street Theatres for Adelaide Fringe 2026.
The show won the House of Oz Purse Prize, which took it to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, at Summerhall, 6th-31st August.
We’ve also been nominated for the Fringe Encore Series at the SoHo Playhouse in New York.
For the Edinburgh season, Jono Darby took over the role from James Smith.
It's 2001. A naive young Australian actor arrives in New York. One man plays twenty-eight characters in this heartbreakingly funny play about 9/11 and chasing your dreams.
Twenty-five years after September 11 changed the world, one performer transforms from a hopeful Aussie to a weary New York lawyer to a British compulsive liar (to name a few), in a fragmented story inspired by playwright Emily Steel's real-life experiences.
